Feeling.

Fast, drivey, and loose.

Speed.

By reducing the width between the stance and lowering the overall rocker, the Polakow becomes exceptionally fast and slippery. The flatter rocker boosts drive, while the narrower stance maintains control at high speeds. The result is a board that feels crisp, highly responsive, and effortlessly quick across the water.

Description.

The Polakow is Quatro’s fastest, most drive-oriented and turn-capable thruster to date — a board Keith Teboul calls “the fastest, driviest, turniest board yet” and “the best Thruster I have ever used.” Designed to sail with the same fast-and-loose attitude as Jason Polakow, it delivers pro-level performance while staying flattering and easy to ride in real-world conditions.

Slightly longer than the Pyramid and just under a centimeter narrower, it features less overall rocker. The stance area is nearly 2 cm narrower for improved control at high speeds. A single‑to‑double‑to‑V bottom creates more rail curve than the Pyramid, keeping the board incredibly turny while the flatter rocker boosts drive and straight‑line speed. It’s the flattest rocker ever used on a Quatro thruster, resulting in a crisp, highly responsive, and exceptionally slippery feel underfoot.

Radical performance, intuitive feel — a board that rewards commitment without punishing mistakes.

The Polakow thrives when pushed — delivering quicker snaps, more drive, and a loose, effortless flow that mirrors Polakow’s signature style.

Board Bag.

Every Haiku Package board comes with its own bespoke MFC Single Board Bag. A streamlined, no-wall design optimized for daily use, commutes, and light travel.

Vent Plug.

Solid State vent plug that eliminates Gore Tex style failure points and leaks.

Shape.

A fast, loose, and radical wave board shape built for drive and snappy turns. Its flatter rocker and intuitive bottom deliver instant response, while the overall shape is tuned to excel in both everyday conditions and the most extreme waves on the planet.

Longer and narrower outline for more control at top speed. A sleeker more pulled in nose and tail create the curve where you need it for the snappy turns.

Highlights.

Bottom.

Single concave at the front blending in a double concave between the straps and then V off the tail.

Rocker.

Flatter for more speed and drive.

Rails.

Thicker and fuller ahead of the mast track, to accelerate flow, the board feels surfy and forgiving up front, yet sharp and precise at the back.

Agility.

The bottom shape combined with a flatter rocker creates a super snappy and loose feel.

Pads & Straps.

Re-designed dual-density pads provide better grip, comfort, and durability. A new reduced layout and optimized dual-density blend mean you have the right support and cushioning where you need it, whilst saving weight and minimizing drag. The new square pattern is angled just right to give you maximum grip and connection to the board. A surf-inspired tail kick pad gives you that locked-in feel during air moves and turns.

Best-quality neoprene and fit MFC ® foot straps, with a size measurement guide. Set them as single-centered, offset, or double screw. Cover is compatible with or without shoes. Asymmetric washers let you custom-fit the strap width around your foot.

Finboxes & Fins.

Quatro ® US mast track and fin boxes, designed in-house and exclusive to Quatro/Goya, are lighter and stronger by design and bonding than conventional boxes. 4 x 5.5-inch US Boxes are 50% lighter—100g per box to minimize weight and seal the Carbon Monocoque™ construction.

Drawing inspiration from the well-known “TF series” and MFC surfing team research. The carbon composite construction ensures a consistent flex and torsion with the fastest response, enabling you to achieve top speed with maneuverability. The new Tip features a 1mm channel to minimize drag at high speeds and facilitate water flow release, enhancing the ability to make quick changes in direction.

Size Guide.

Wave & Freewave.

When in doubt, riding a slightly bigger board with a smaller sail will almost always feel better and more comfortable than a smaller board with a bigger sail.

That said, the best feeling comes when you find the perfect match.

Use the guidelines below to help choose the right volume for your Wave or Freewave board. These recommendations are based on rider body weight in kilograms.

Add 2 to 4 extra liters if you regularly sail in onshore conditions.

Wind Conditions + Skill Level = Recommended Volume:

High Wind + Intermediate = 4 to 8 liters above body weight
High Wind + Advanced = 0 to 4 liters above body weight
Medium Wind + Intermediate = 8 to 12 liters above body weight
Medium Wind + Advanced = 4 to 8 liters above body weight
Float & Ride + Intermediate = 12 to 16 liters above body weight
Float & Ride + Advanced = 8 to 12 liters above body weight

Example:
An 80 kg advanced rider in high wind would typically look at an 80–84 liter board. In onshore conditions, they should consider adding 2–4 liters (82–86 L range).

ALoha Quatro Team!

I hope you and your family are doing well and finding time to score some fun waves.

Wind was a little light today at the beach, but it looks like we will get some action this week--can't wait.

I've sailed the new Polakow board a couple of times now, and so far I am really liking it! I used it in 4.0 and 4.2 conditions last week. Head to logo+ surf.

Here is my initial feedback:

Early feedback on Polakow 89:

1. Lots of drive and speed, but not at the expense of the ability to turn.

2.maintains speed very well up the wave face. Bonus: works well in onshore conditions, as it carries more speed than a quad. Less likely to stall out in bottom turn as a result.

3. High confidence in lip hitting and top turns. Downside: easy to get into trouble, haha. If you are looking for a board that will help you get to that next level in off the lips, this board may be it. Can do serious laceration damage to wave faces.

4. Stock center 19cm fin works, but I suspect going to a smaller center fin will unlock even more potential from this board.

5. Works well in high winds. Confident and cuts through chop and bumps on and off wave face. Or at least better than some other boards.

6. Light. Point and shoot action. Low nose swing weight. Maybe due to lighter weight overall, but the board just itches to initiate the next turn.

7. High energy board. It rewards activity. Likes turning. Can do that cradling turn on wave faces, especially when going upwind on wave face while waiting for the face to take form for downwind hit. Changes direction in a snap.

8. Only rode it in high winds, not sure how it would work in float and ride or schlogging conditions. My sense is that this board needs a little juice. I’ll find out what its lower limits are soon.

Overall a super fun board. My new rip stick for sure. Rides well like the old red board pyramids. That’s a high compliment.

My $.02 for now. After I get more time on it, I’ll likely write a review and post on my website. I haven't had much time on the new Haiku Quad yet, but I will likely get more time on it later this week and into the weekend.

Looking forward to trying the new Thrusters and sails this Summer.

Thank you,
James

Response:

Yeahh Jame! So great to hear. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and ride always.

About the center fin, that is correct, it all depends on where you ride, frontside/sideshore, you can go with a smaller one than side-on. You can always play by moving all of the fins forward, also.

All the best!

Francisco
